Healing Trauma Through the Brain and Body

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a powerful, evidence-based therapy designed to help people heal from trauma, distressing life experiences, and deeply rooted emotional wounds. Whether you’re carrying the impact of a single event or the weight of long-term patterns, EMDR can help you process and release what’s been keeping you stuck.

How Does EMDR Work?

Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR helps the brain reprocess painful memories that may be stored in a “stuck” or unprocessed state. When trauma occurs, the nervous system can become overwhelmed, preventing the brain from filing the memory away as “in the past.” This is why certain experiences may continue to feel vivid, emotionally intense, or intrusive—long after the event has passed.

  • PTSD and complex trauma
  • Anxiety and panic
  • Childhood abuse or neglect
  • Grief and loss
  • Relationship wounds and attachment issues
  • Phobias
  • Low self-esteem and limiting beliefs
  • Birth trauma and perinatal distress

EMDR uses bilateral stimulation (often through eye movements, tapping, or auditory tones) to help the brain integrate and resolve these memories. Clients do not need to go into detail about the trauma itself—rather, EMDR facilitates a natural healing process, allowing painful memories to lose their emotional charge and become part of the broader, less reactive memory network.

What to Expect

EMDR therapy begins with building a strong foundation of trust, resourcing, and emotional safety. Together, we’ll identify target memories or themes that are connected to current symptoms or distress. When you’re ready, we’ll move into the reprocessing phases of EMDR, always at a pace that feels manageable and collaborative.

Sessions are structured yet flexible, and I prioritize your sense of safety and control every step of the way.

EMDR Is Highly Effective Online

One of the most empowering aspects of EMDR therapy today is its proven success in virtual settings. Research and clinical experience have consistently shown that EMDR is just as effective via telehealth as it is in person.

During virtual EMDR sessions, we use secure video platforms and tailored tools for bilateral stimulation that are easy to use and just as impactful. Many clients actually find they feel safer and more at ease doing this work in their own space—which can enhance the overall healing process.
